As AI continues to evolve and proliferate at a rapid pace, Japan is facing a series of sophisticated cyber incidents, making security measures for AI implementation a top priority. The "Cyber Security Strategy," approved by the Cabinet in December 2025, highlights the increasing complexity of both attacks targeting AI systems and those leveraging AI for malicious purposes. In response, the "Secure AI by Design" framework—which ensures safety by addressing AI-specific vulnerabilities from the earliest stages of development and deployment—has become an essential industry standard.
This event looks toward the future of AI reliability and safety, exploring emerging cybersecurity risks posed by the rise of AI agents and the expansion of Physical AI into the real world. Held in conjunction with the Tokyo Meeting of the "Friends of the Hiroshima AI Process"—an international framework for AI cooperation hosted by the Government of Japan and comprising over 40 countries—this forum will bring together leaders from industry, government, and academia to engage in deep discussions on the critical mission of realizing a safe and secure AI-driven society.
Due to limited seating, if applications exceed capacity, a lottery will be held to determine which applicants can attend.

With cyberattacks becoming increasingly sophisticated, strengthening national defense is now an urgent priority. Following the enactment of the "Act on Strengthening Cyber Response Capabilities" and the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Coordination Office last year, a new national strategy was formulated in December.
This session explains the key points of the new legislation and strategy, highlighting the government’s latest measures. We will also address the essential management of cyber risks in the private sector and the vital role of public-private partnerships in shaping future collaboration.
The rapid rise of AI is reshaping cybersecurity, offering enhanced defense while enabling more sophisticated, automated attacks. Ensuring the safety and reliability of AI systems themselves has also become a critical priority.
This session introduces the initiatives of the AI Safety Institute (AISI) and explores key cybersecurity challenges in the AI era—from the evolution of AI-driven threats and defenses to the inherent security of AI systems.
Panel Discussion: Cyber Resilience in the Age of AI - Advancing Public-Private and International Collaboration
As the rapid evolution and adoption of AI lead to increasingly frequent and severe cyber incidents, securing AI implementation has become a top priority. National strategies now highlight dual threats: attacks targeting AI systems and highly sophisticated attacks powered by AI itself.
In this landscape, the "Secure AI by Design" philosophy—incorporating safety and mitigating AI-specific vulnerabilities from the earliest stages of development—is an essential mandate. This session provides a global overview of AI and cybersecurity initiatives and explores future countermeasures through the lens of international and cross-sector cooperation.
